Overview

The renovation bridged old Hawai'i and new Hawai'i in an energetic urban setting. Paying homage to the island's volcanic origin, the third floor pool deck is accented with a signature volcano canopy, giant tiki torches, and fire flame exterior wall panels. The new staircase replaced the view-obstructing elevator and provides immediate access from the beach and sidewalk to the pool deck and Tiki's Grill & Bar. In the porte-cochere, the bright green surfboard display is a reminder of Waikiki's legacy as the home of surfing. The elevator lobbies and escalators are lined with bamboo poles creating the impression of entering a tropical bamboo grove. As tatooing is part of the Hawaiian culture, the face of the front desk is done in a tatoo motif.
