California Pacific Medical Center's new hospital opened for service
California Pacific Medical Center's new hospital in San Francisco officially opened for service on Saturday, March 2nd. The $2.1 billion facility located on the cross streets of Van Ness Ave and Geary Street. The hospital is 1,015,000 square feet, featuring 11 floors and 274 acute-care beds, houses inpatient services with an emphasis on maternity care, pediatrics, transplant, emergency and cardiac care, among other primary care services. The project is one of the first OSHPD projects to use a Lean Construction delivery process and a Phased OSHPD Submittal Process to accelerate and improve the agency approval process. The team used 3-D modeling programs with an integrated project delivery team, to fully coordinate all components and systems into the building to allow construction to take place with minimum disruption caused by constructability issues.
Pankow were a Core Trade Partner on the Hospital, completing the structural concrete scope of work. The general Contractor was Herrero Boldt. In addition, we are also the General Contractor on the construction of the Medical Office Building across Van Ness Ave.
Congratulations to the Hospital team!
