Valuable and Informational Take-aways from DBIA National Conference
From November 2-4, 2016, Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) held its Design-Build Conference & Expo at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Over 2,000 industry professionals spanning the entire A/E/C community attended to share and learn about new experiences in design-build project delivery. Conference panels and sessions were led by knowledgeable and well-spoken industry experts who had the opportunity to highlight key aspects of design-build project delivery which included best practices, lessons learned, challenges and/or emerging trends.
On November 3rd, Pankow represented on two speaker panels with audiences of more than 250 attendees each.
1. Peter Loeb (Project Executive) was joined by representatives from County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works and HKS who illustrated how the design-build project team employed innovative and collaborative tools and methods to successfully win and deliver the multi award-winning Zev Yaroslavsky Family Support Center Build-to-Suit. Collectively, they illustrated how this project was a model for "Design-Build Done Right."
2. Pankow's Leading Ladies panel comprised of Sarah Zdarko (Corporate Senior Lean Manager), Kristina Vinson (Director of Culture & Communications), Emily Nochez (Project Executive) and Lindsey Gray (Project Manager) who provided insight on "Leading Ladies: How to Accelerate Design-Build Leadership Traits within your Organization." Together with Southland Industries, the panel discussed how a focus on leadership impacts the success of projects, careers and lives.
On the evening of November 3rd, Pankow was a proud sponsor of the Awards Ceremony and Dinner where the "best of the best" were honored and recognized. Zev Yaroslavsky Family Support Center and the project team received a Merit Award and won the 2016 Design Excellence Award for the Commercial/Office Building category.

Additionally, Stacey Field (Project Engineer II) and Veronica Willigar (Assistant Project Manager) graduated with the 2016 Class of Designated Design-Build Professionals.
