2016 Power Woman: Emily Nochez
On October 11th, Project Executive Emily Nochez was recognized as one of Bisnow’s Power Women in Los Angeles. She was among a group of 50 women in the commercial real estate industry who exemplifies work/life rhythm, a leadership position, tenacity and a mentorship role within their chosen field. In a male-dominated industry, Emily shared her top three values: work/life rhythm, ownership of the value she brings to the construction industry, and to be a good role model.
“I often felt guilty for not having enough time for my two young daughters, especially with my recent promotion as Project Executive,” Emily said. “But with a supportive company like Pankow Builders, I’m able to balance my family and work life with a reduced work schedule for the past seven years.” Emily continued her talk by encouraging women to “embrace your talents” and acknowledge that “you are your own worst critic.” She evoked others to simply believe in yourself and success will follow; success is not based on the amount of time you put in, but it is about giving your best self.
As a young female engineer, she was hesitant to excel and rise in the construction industry. However, in her new leadership role at Pankow, she embraces her position as a role model to young female engineers by inspiring them to “be an advocate for yourself” and explore how your personal goals and needs align with the Company’s Vision and Mission.
It is an ever-changing world, but female workers need to remain flexible, evolve with the changes and aim to be a role model for future generations.
