Pankow Team Presented at the 16th Annual LCI Congress
Ten Pankow Warriors attended the 16th Annual LCI Congress in San Francisco October 7-10, 2014 to learn from and network with other thinkers, doers, and companies that are driving the next generation of Lean process into their projects and organizations.
Opening speaker, Art Byne, Author of The Lean Turnaround shared that “Lean is a strategy and ultimately a culture, not a set of tools.” Byrne is most recognizable for the lean implementation he led as CEO of Wiremold. He has since led lean transformations in over 30 companies.
Senior Project Manager Sarah Zdarko was recognized during general session for her commitment to LCI Congress as a Certified LEAN instructor and a LCI Core Group Member and Education Committee leader.
Superintendent Doug Dunnebier, and Field Engineer John Clearly presented an interesting case study on their Experiment in Takt time at Mills Peninsula alongside owner, James Pease and Executive Director of P2SL and LCI National Board Director, Professor Iris Tommelein. The intrigued audience lined up for questions to learn more about how the team’s innovation brought the schedule from 44 to 32 days using line of balance and takt time.
Other speakers included James Hereford, COO of Stanford Hospitals and Clinics and Billy Beane, General Manager of the Oakland Athletics.
