National Food Bank Day
National Food Bank Day is observed annually on the first Friday of September. The mission of this national day is to bring awareness and to alleviate hunger through the gathering and distribution of food while encouraging collaboration, advocacy, and education.
This year, National Food Bank day fell on Friday, September 7th and Pankow's NorCal and SoCal offices and job sites partook on the volunteer efforts.
Our SoCal team sorted, inspected, and boxed donated food items at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Due to the hard work of the team and others, they were able to box 9,793 pounds of food that will be distributed to an estimated 8,128 hungry seniors, children, and families across the Los Angeles County.
The NorCal team, along with Morgan Stanley, Stripe and other groups, sorted and packed over 1,700 pounds of rice at the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.
