Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day at the Chestnut Home Project in Glendale
On 5/16/15, nine SoCal Pankow Warriors participated in another fun and sunny Habitat for Humanity volunteer day in Glendale at the Chestnut Home Project. Our main tasks for the day included hoisting, creating templates, and installing roof rafters/beams for the third story roof on Unit #2, installing exterior sheathing from a manlift (with tie-off), and constructing a few misc small interior walls. Many members of our group had the opportunity to become a “Crew Leader” for the day, and got to teach other volunteers specific skills, tool-use and lean tricks about the tasks they were working on. Props to Carpenter Foreman Rudy Zuniga for being able to identify and fix an existing out of plumb exterior wall with ease. We had some great team input together analyzing and executing our tasks.
