San Mateo’s new police facility included subterranean parking, a firing range, a detention holding facility, support facilities and more than 73,000 square feet of site improvements.
The tactical shooting range includes rubber wall and ceiling tiles to minimize noise and ballistic windows to protect viewers.
Originally targeting LEED Silver, the police facility received a LEED NC Gold certification, involving coordination, installation and commissioning of integrated building systems including electrical, mechanical and plumbing. This Essential Services Facility includes a 24-hour 911 Dispatch Center, complex building tele/data and security systems. Pankow coordinated the construction so that the dispatch center could move in early.
